Dr Abhishek R. Desai is a dynamic ophthalmologist and Vitreo-retinal surgeon, hailing from Aurangabad, Maharashtra state of India.
Having completed his schooling from S. B. High school, Aurangabad he finished MBBS from Govt. Medical College Aurangabad.
Thereafter, he pursued Masters( MS) in Ophthalmology from the esteemed Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Pt B. D. Sharma PGIMS. Rohtak.
He was further previledged to accomplish a long-term fellowship in Vitreo-retina at Shri Ganapati Netralaya, a state-of-the art tertiary eye care hospital at Jalna, Maharashtra, India.
He is a recipient of fellowship of ICO in surgical retina from the world re-known New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, New York USA in 2018. He is also a member of Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Edinburgh and fellow of Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow, UK.
He is working as a Vitreo-retinal consultant since 9 years with special interest in ocular trauma(especially posterior segment) and uvea.
He has dozens of peer reviewed national and international publications to his name and has been a host and keynote speaker at various conferences.
He has been a principal investigator to a few multicentre multinational clinical trials representing his hospital at international level.
His passion lies in retinal imaging, newer advances especially retinal stem cell therapy in various vitreo-retinal diseases and posterior segment ocular trauma. Being an academician himself, he has a keen interest in teaching young minds at various platforms.
